Art Journaling

This year, I’m definitely trying to make some good resolutions. Two days ago, our family joined the YMCA with a generous scholarship so I can join some classes. I know I need accountability if any fitness plan is gonna stick. I’m trying to carve out specific times in the day to read the Word and clean the house to get into some good habits. And, of course, I want to increase my artistic output. The other night, my husband graciously kicked me out of the house to get some alone time at Starbucks. If you’re a parent, especially a stay-at-home parent, you understand how awesome that is. If you’re not a parent, getting kicked out for a while is actually a good and necessary thing.

I ended up sitting at Starbucks with a Raspberry Steamer, opening my sketchbook and looking up It’s a great resource if your mind is blank and you just need some place to start. I think my creative brain has a short-circuit right now, so I’ve been needing good crutches like this to get anything going. Here’s what I came up with:

Definitely rough and I have a long way to go (as well as needing a new scanner apparently), but it was a fun start and I’m excited to see the growth between now and the end of the year. I wanna try new styles, new poses, new characters, and get better and better at this art thing. šŸ™‚

Cheers to new years and fresh starts,

Natalie Grace
